Random Act of Kindness

Valentine's day was a day like most except for one small thing, which I have seen rarely and that I can count on one hand, the times I've seen it. My EOIC knowing that the other two women in my office would not be getting flowers for the day went out and got all three of us a single red rose and small bag of chocolates. I was included, but I knew the act was really for the other two who would not have a wonderful person sending them a dozen long stemmed red roses. His kindness was a small in site to the cavalier spirit that he lets show on odd occasions. And for that moment I was proud to call him friend.

Saturday race around Texas

Another fun fast paced day here. Woke up and got on the road by 8:30 (Starbuks please)
We headed to Frisco and got there just as Sam Moon's was opening (Note to self 9:30 not 9:00)
Looked at all the luggage and picked out a really cute set for Caedee to use for Germany
Went next door to the Sam Moon Trading Company! Oh my stars!!!!! I'm broke now. I got everything from hair to purses in the place. Picked up a hair fall and a new purse then I got the girls some stuff limited to $30.00 each and for the most part they behaved themselves. LOL.
Then we went up to 380 zipped over to Denton, went North of 35 to Gainesville Just in time to buy 12 boxes of GS cookies from Nesa and her niece.
Went to Whitesboro and picked up some necessities and flew back to Sherman by 1:30
I think I need a nap because I am suppose to head out in about an hour to go back to Whitesboro for a birthday party for a friend of mine. Whoo hoo I can't wait for Monday when I can get some rest.

My morning route

"Scrap/blog your morning ritual, routine, what it is that jumpstarts your day"

Starbuks woman what do you think jumpstarts my day!! LOL

Ok my morning starts with CD getting up between 5:30 and 5:45 a.m. I get up and make sure she is up and then I lay down for a about 15 to 20 minutes and make sure that she is up and awake. Some mornings she wants breakfast and some mornings she can't be bothered so that part of the route varies. If she doesn't then I hop on the computer and check TRL posts and how everyone is doing. I hop over to Sherri's site and check on specials, etc.,

About 6:30 I start getting dressed for the office and braiding my hair if I am going to wear it up for the day. CD says good-by about 6:50 and then I kick it into high gear mode and look for my stuff for the day, book, cross stitch project, office badge, office keys, purse, cellphone, keys and something for lunch. I also make sure I have soda and Monsters with me.

If I have time I drive through Starbuks but most mornings its McD or Sonic before I head to the office.

Once in the office I unlock my desk, hook up my lap top, check my emails, check my accounts and start my plan of attack for the day.

Pretty boring now that I see it in black and white.

Insite to my home blog Challenge

"So give us an insight into your home surroundings."

My home is very eclectic. When you walk into my home you are met with the influence of my mother everywhere.
The Korean screens and decorations are lovingly displayed and the dolls of my birthland are shown in a beautiful entertainment center purchased by my folks as a house warming present .
Next you will walk into my Chinese red dining room area and see a 200 year old mirror proudly hung over a credenza left to us by C's father and of course the beautiful dining room table and chairs that my mother gave me as a Christmas present.
In the entryway into the kitchen you will see on one lone wall a old singer sewing machine that my Grandmother gave me for my 8th birthday. It still works surprisingly. On the sewing machine you will find a I-Mac. In the kitchen area you will find a 60 gal fish tank that has seen better days, but for the most part still relaxing in the sound of the water and the motion of the fish swimming back and forth.

At any time you may hear the blast of a trombone or the whine of the violin. At times the mournful sounds of a cello will drift down the stairs and work its way into your heart. The piano will sound off at any time when it calls its young artist to sit at its bench. Songs from gospel, jazz, musicals from Broadway, opera, Christian Rock or country music may suddenly be sung by a beautiful teenager.

My house is east meets west and Old lives with new. And music fills the air. Like I said eclectic but very much home.

Best Day /Worse Day

Long story to make a book out of this one day. I am at work when I get a call from C - Come home now the house is on fire! OMG!!! I make it home and there are 2 fire engines and an ambulance in front of my house. Please please please let C be alright. I can't get close to the house but I get to the neighbors and start running across the yard and there I see C running toward me.

"Babe I am so sorry I couldn't save your scrapbooks"
"Screw the scrapbooks are you ok?"
"Yeah I got out when I saw the smoke"
"Where were you?"
"Under the house checking the ducts"

All I could do was hold him while the firemen worked to put out the last of the fire. One of the fire fighters reached in and brought me a coat out because well in February it is pretty cold some times and I was standing out there in the wind. We finally got the all clear and was allowed to collect a few items. I packed some smoked clothes and gather up my girls and State Farm rep met us at the house to give a check so that we could stay at a hotel for the night which ended up being shy of a month

I walked into the Hampton Inn in Sherman, smelling of smoke and covered in soot. They got us a room, a break in price, helped us up and sent up a tray of munches, treated us like royalty and gave us the gold key treatment. It really helped and when we left C and I left roses for them on the front desk.

As we all were huddled at the Hampton inn I realize this was the best day of my life -- C was snoring beside me, the girls were arguing about what side of the bed they could sleep on and I had my family still.

Note to Self

Don't keep a camera phone in your pants pocket and go to the bathroom -

Curtains on the front windows are a good thing -

the continuing saga of the car gremlins

Yep they are still at work at the Carsten house. I had drove my car to work this morning, apparently Chris was going to work on it and was a little miffed at me because I drove it. Of course I drove it. Caedee needed a ride to school and I needed to get to work. How was he going to do that when he didn't leave the plant until almost 7:30? Grrr Oh well.
Then he comes to my office with a peace offering of breakfast only to have the sidewall of his truck blow out when he got to the parking lot. No jack - jack. Here we go again. He is upset because had a blowout at my office. Now - if I hadn't drove my car and we had had a blow out how was he going to get to the tire store for a new tire if we were both in the same car? Ah ha The end of the story is he called jj and they got the tire fixed they got my battery cable fixed and Chris got to go to bed before 11 AND I still got breakfast!

Another week is done - I am so grateful for Fridays but then I try to do so much during the weekend that I don't enjoy the weekend. Has that ever happened to you?
Rae called to check in and of course I was busy so I didn't get a chance to talk to her like I would have. I hate that.
Caedee got out of Jazz band early so she called me and I went and picked her up. I then took her to Red Lobster to have supper and then went to Sams to pick up my pictures. I should have Just gone to Snapfish and been happy with it. I think I am saving money and I end up spending the same amount as if I had mailed them to Snapfish. Plus with Snap fish I would have had them online already to do all the stuff I want to do with them. Grrrr me Try to save a buck end up spending more.
Ok I'm not a happy camper tonight. Must be the full moon.

Another day in paradise

I got a call at work Caedee needed to come home. Apparently over 1/2 of the cast is sick, getting sick or trying to get over sick.

Take Caedee to the minor emergancy clinic - yep she's sick (thanks Doc here's a check)
When I got back into the car my car wouldn't start (again!!!!UGGGGH)
so I had to wake Chris and he went to Sam's to get meds for kiddo.
I am fighting a headache major and trying to decide if I dare take anything for it. If I do I may not be awake enough to deal with anything Caedee needs me to do.
Need to get the fire going and eat something. Ummm wonder my ulcer is flaring again - how odd.
