Tip for the Week - Trimmers

 Tip of the week:

This week we will be exploring Trimmers:
Rotary Cutters - one of the pros is that they have different cutting blades and styles. A change of blade can allow you to use a more decorative cut. Examples would be perforated or scallops. We use this type of cutter at our church to perforate the weekly worship guides for the tear off section for visitors to use.
Slide or guide cutters - this type of cutter is most popular. Stampin' UP has this style of cutter and I must confess that I love this one and use it most. Usually used for strictly paper cutting up to 3 sheets of paper or 2 pieces of card stock, it can cut THIN chipboard or glitter paper but dull your blade quickly. I keep an old blade in my took box just to cut glitter paper. This type of trimmer is also great for cutting the interior portion of your paper. If you can only have one trimmer this is the one I recommend.
Guillotine style - This type of cutter is great for bulk cutting of paper and thicker chipboard. I have an old office style for cutting my chipboard (up to #70) for my mini albums that I make. I also was gifted with a heavy duty cutter by my sister for birthday that can cut book board and up to 75 sheets of card stock which is awesome for class prepping.
Blade and self-healing Mat - To tell the truth this isn't my favorite cutting method basically because I am such a klutz. However this method can be used with a straight edge, Exacto knife and a self-healing or glass mat and is very useful for minute cutting and mitering of edges, etc.,
Scissors - Of course still tried and true method of cutting, is regular scissors. They can be used in a variety of ways from quick trims to long lines. There are also a variety of speciality scissors, some are decorative, some made more for industrial use (wires, etc.) Stampin Up! has paper snips which you can do finite or fussy cutting that work great.
If you have questions about trimmers DM me and I'll see what I can do to assist you.
Thank you for supporting my small business.
