There will come a day - June 30, 2015

Good Morning Dear Ones:
With all the craziness that has been going on the last couple of days in our country, I thought we needed to refocus on a promise given to us from the Old Testament.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zechariah 14:9 (ESV)
9 And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day, the Lord will be one and His name one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There will come a day when He shall be acknowledged as the only true God. Until then, we just need to remember whose we truly are.
Have a blessed day,
SJ

He's still working on me - June 29, 2015

Good Morning Dear Ones:
Well if any of you have known me and my craft room, you would know I have hundreds of unfinished projects lined up ready to be given the final touch. I also have bunches of "well that was a mistake, don't try that again" projects that I am trying to salvage into something useful.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Psalm 138:8 (ESV)
8 The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me;
Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.
Do not forsake the work of Your hands.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am a work in progress. The Lord is not done with me yet and as long as I am drawing a breath, He will continue to work on this project until I am a reflection on Him. I like to think I am His "craft project" just unfinished at this time. Don't give up on me folks, He's still working on me.
Hugs,
SJ

Congrats Sarah and Michael! June 27, 2015

Good Morning dear ones:
One of my borrows gets married today. I am so happy for her. So in honor of Sarah and Michael's wedding:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Matthew 19:5 (ESV)
5 and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’
Have a blessed day everyone. I am fixing to head out the door and go pick berries at the berry farm up the road. I see cobblers in the near future for us.
Grudges - 6/26/15
Good Morning Dear Ones:
This verse has always been one I had a time with. The human side of me just wants to even the score, where the Spirit side of me tells me to let go and let God....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leviticus 19:18 (ESV)
18 You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is hard to love someone that is unloveable but they are the ones that need it the most. God loved me so that He gave is only begotten son. . .
I can do no less, especially when all He asks of me is to believe.
Hugs everyone, stay cool out there.
Filled Heaven and earth - 6/25/15
Good Morning:
Today is my road day so I don't have to report until 8 it was nice to sleep-in even if it is just a hour. What is it about coffee that tastes so good on sleep-in days?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jeremiah 23:24 (ESV)
24 Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Occasionally I will run into someone and they'll say "where on earth have you been hiding?" Have you ever tried to hide from the Lord? Have you ever thought if I don't go to church, fellowships etc. I won't have to do the work. He won't ask me to do anything? This verse is a reminder that God is everywhere. He is not in the heavens with a big stick waiting for us to mess up so he can bop us. Rather he knows where we are and what we need. When we think we are in a deep dark cavern of despair and that He will not hear us, don't worry the Lord God filled the Heaven and earth there is no place we can be that He will not reach down to us if we just call His name.
Have an awesome day,
SJ
Guarding us - June 24, 2015
Good Morning dear ones:
Yesterday when I got back from the doctors I was so exhausted I just laid down and slept. When Chris came in from doing the yard work, Charlie had his head on the arm rest of the couch and was guarding me. He knew I was under the weather and wanted to make sure nothing was going to bother me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2 Thessalonians 3:3 (ESV)
3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This teaches us to look away from faithless men to our never-failing God. He is faithful to confirm us to the end. (1Cor. 1:9) He is faithful to deliver us out of temptation (1 Cor. 10:13). He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9) And here He is faithful to establish and guard us from satan.
Put on the full amour of God, go out today with the confidence that you are the child of the one true King and He loves you beyond anything.
Hugs,
SJ
Waiting - June 23, 2015
Good Morning:
Back when I sold Home Interiors, this verse was on a picture with a soaring eagle. For some reason it gave me hope on days that were less than hopeful.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This verse speaks of promises that will guide us through our walk with the Lord. However there is condition to it. We are to "wait" for the Lord. How many times did we have to tell our children "wait for me". How many times have we had it said to us. In this age of instant everything, waiting is sometimes the hardest thing to do.
For those who wait for answers to prayers, know that waiting is part of the process. It is not easy, but know that we are all praying for each other. In this verse the waiting isn't for us to be idle, we are to keep doing what He last told us to do. As we "wait" let us be assured that He will renew us.
Hugs to you all,
SJ
Bracing for the week - June 22, 2015
Good Morning Dear ones:
As we prepare for another work week let us brace ourselves for the fight with the enemy and remember whose we are:
Psalm 121:7- (ESV)
7 The Lord will keep you from all evil;
He will keep your life.
8 The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.
Hugs to you all:
Happy Father's day June 21, 2015
Good Morning everyone:
Today is Father's day here in the US. I am blessed to still have Pop on this side of Heaven, however not everyone is. For you, I leave this word.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Psalm 68:5 (ESV)
5 Father of the fatherless and protector of widows
is God in His holy habitation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have a blessed day. To the fathers in this group "Happy Father's Day".
Hugs,
washing of water with the word - June 19, 2015
Good Morning Dear ones:
This morning we are looking at Ephesians 5:25-26
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ephesians 5:25-26 (ESV)
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wondered what washing of water with the word meant so I looked it up in my commentary. In simple terms it means that the lives of believers are cleansed as they hear the words of Christ and obey them. Cool hua?
Have a great Friday, I am heading out to the Great American Scrapbook Convention in a few hours. I hope you all have a great day.
Hugs,
SJ
Sing to God - June 17, 2015
Good Morning Dear ones:
A quick word from the Psalms this morning:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Psalm 68:4-5 (ESV)
4 Sing to God, sing praises to his name;
lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts;
his name is the Lord;
exult before him!
5 Father of the fatherless and protector of widows
is God in his holy habitation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have a blessed day,
SJ
a father's compassion - June 16, 2015
Good Morning Dear ones:
I am waiting for my coffee to kick in so that when I add 2 + 2 I get less than 22. Sharing from today's study:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Psalm 103:13 (ESV)
13 As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I was growing up, Mom used those dreaded words. "Wait till your father gets home". We trembled in fear until Dad came home. He would set the 4 of us down (most of the time we had George in trouble too) and talk to us. The disappointment in my father's eyes would break my heart. You could see the self control as he tried to reason with us. But by bedtime, all was forgiven and we got the hugs and love we needed to rest through the night. Of all the things in life, I was always assured that my Dad love us kids.
We may be fear Him, which is healthy, but we can know that God loves us no matter what. We can rest knowing that He may have to discipline us, but He will love us.
Have a great day,
SJ
father of the righteous - June15, 2015
Good Morning dear ones:
I love the Psalms and Proverbs and the wisdom that it bestows. Out of today's study, I thought I would share this verse:
~~~~~~~~~~
Proverbs 23:24 (ESV)
24 The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice;
he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.
~~~~~~~~~~~
How many of us rejoiced when our children came to a saving knowledge of Jesus? I have always been proud of my girls, but the day I was assured they would spend eternity with me in Heaven was especially wonderful. I wrote the date in my Bible. From time to time, when I come across it I smile and am glad.
Have an awesome week everyone.
Hugs,
SJ
Chris' Post June 11, 2015
Greetings Everybody, and Happy Saturday! Yes, it took all week to get here, but it's here now.
Many years ago there was a song that had a phrase in it, "Workin' for the weekend". Sadly it seems to me that this becomes the attitude for many of us, and for many different reasons.
We forget that all good things come to us from above, and that "work" is one of those good things. The Lord set Adam in the Garden to keep it and care for it; We are saved so that we may do good works which point others to Him and bring Him praise; And, according to Ecclesiastes 2:24 we can find satisfaction in doing a job well, and knowing that it is from God! "Nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and that his soul should enjoy good in his labor. This also, I saw, was from the hand of God." Ecc. 2:24 NKJV
So, I hope we all enjoy our weekends, our fun, our rest, but remember to find His involvement and blessing in our "work".
Take care,
Chris
Forgiveness June 11, 2015
Good Morning dear ones:
In this morning's study this verse jumped up at me. Like so many of us I can't seem to forgive myself somethings.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Colossians 3:13 (ESV)
13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Lord has forgiven me. The reason I can't seem to forgive myself is the enemy whispering in my ear which brings it back to me and my shame reminds me of how imperfect I am. However God has forgiven me and that has to be my answer to the enemy when he whispers in my ear, "remember the the time . . " . I have to remember to tell him ~ God has forgiven of that it no longer exists.
I hope you all have a great day, with the heat index hitting 100 today, stay cool and hydrated today.
Chris' post June 10, 2015
I saw a headline today that read: "Tune in, Toke up, Smile Big! Introducing the First Church of Cannabis".
Christians are surrounded today by those who openly mock our Lord and our belief in Him; Others who claim another faith and would say He was a prophet but He's NOT the Son of God; And still more who claim the Name of Christ but seem to have substituted something else for His simple formula of Grace and Faith meeting in a Humble Heart.
Jesus promised us peace and rest... but not in this world:
"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."
Whatever it is you face today, remember that Christ has overcome the world, and He placed you here for a purpose. Of those who mock and ridicule and believe a lie, there may yet be some of them who will come to a saving faith in Christ. It's up to us to be worthy signposts for them to find the way to Him.
Have a blest day today yawl !
Narrow Gate - June 9, 2015
Good Morning dear one:
I remember growing up Daddy shaking his head and saying if everyone else jumped off the building would you have too?! Well I am afraid I would have because I am such a follower frown emoticon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Matthew 7:13-14 (ESV)
13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
it is easy to go with the crowd, move with the masses. We need to remember He chose us and died for us. We need to remember to stand up for Him because He died for us.
Hugs,
SJ
New Commandment June 8, 2015
Good Morning dear ones:
I remember growing up my mom reminding me that I only have one brother and sister and that I needed to love them. Odd that we would have to be reminded to love. I gleaned from my parents that love was not just an emotion but an action.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John 13:34-35 (ESV)
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not everyone is lovable and so we have to remember that love is an action as well as a feeling. We are also commanded:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Matthew 5:43-48 (ESV)
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the kind of love shown to us and we must show the world so that we may be known as His.
Have an awesome day and show some love to someone.
Chris' posts from Holy Devoted
May 26, 2015
Good morning Everyone, and Happy Monday! Yes, I know it's Tuesday, but I also know that for many of us following a holiday weekend, it is a Monday.
Stella is commuting to Dallas this week so I will fill in for her when she doesn't have the chance to make a post.
A couple things that God takes seriously: His Word, and You. I intended to cover both today but it would have run very long, so I'll cover His Word today, and You tomorrow. In the Sermon on the Mount, at Matthew 5:18 we glimpse some of seriousness about His word. "For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled." -NKJV
The phrase jot and tittle refers to the Hebrew alphabet. A jot or "Yote" is the 10th letter and is the smallest by far, it is merely the slightest touch of pen to paper. It equates to the letter "Y", is the first letter of God's Holy Name, YHWH, and carries the idea of God's forever-presence. Finally, the greek equivalent is "iota".
A tittle is the decorative little swish or crown that sometimes occurs on Hebrew letters. They also carry great meaning, can change the tone of a word, and can change the emphasis entirely.
That Christ tells us not a jot or tittle will pass away till all is fulfilled, is a message of hope for us that God is not done with this world yet, He's not done with us yet.
The Sermon on the Mount is quite beautiful and great hope and assurance can be found there.
Matthew 5:14-16New King James Version (NKJV)
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Have a Wonderful Day!
May 27, 2015
My apologies for such a late post today.
Yesterday we saw a few things regarding how important God's Word is to Him. Today let's look at how important You and I are to Him.
First of all, we know that Christ is named the "Lamb slain before the foundation of the world" - 1Peter 1:20. The only reason for our Savior to die was to pay the redemption price for you, me and all of creation. God knew sin would taint our race, and we are important enough to Him that He paid the price... BEFORE the debt ever occured!
Because God is in the business of restoring our relationship with Himself we are blest to find that Christ's resurrection not only set us free from the DEBT of sin, not only secured for us ETERNAL LIFE with our Heavenly Father, but ALSO made available to us the power to overcome temptation and avoid sin as we walk through this life! Billy Graham once wrote this:
"No longer do men and women need to stumble in the fog and the darkness of hopelessness. A Light shines brighter than the noonday sun, offering hope to everyone who has been born again. Jesus promised, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die” (John 11:25-26)."
The Spirit of Christ within us gives us the power to do good works that point people to God. His power at work within us, is the same power God used to raise Christ from the dead:
11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. -Romans 8:11 NKJV
Have a blest day !
May 28, 2015
Good morning everyone,
I'd like us to see today what is probably the one thing that God is MOST serious about. His Name. The story has come down through generations that the scribes of old held God's Name in such high esteem that when they were diligently making copies of the Torah, when they came to God's most personal name, YHWH, no one man would put His whole name down on parchment. Furthermore, and still today, they would avoid speaking His Name and in common writings would write something like "G*d". They considered that God's holiness extended to His personal name.
To us that might sound a little weird, but remember we're talking about the Creator of Everything ever created - and actually they would be right.
Pastor Kris Segrest, in his book "Spreading His Fame" ( I highly recommend this) starts with the idea that not only is God worthy of all praise, He actually does things in order to gain glory! If we saw another human doing this, then we'd say they were prideful or conceited, as the saying goes, "It ain't bragging if it's true", and with God it's true!
God gains glory by His act of creation, by every act of mercy, by every act of judgment. His name is glorified when we repent of sin and turn to Him. His name is glorified when people act upon the truth of His word. His name is glorified when we do the good works that He has prepared for us to do, "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." NKJV
Finally, we are commanded at least twice, to boast in Him.
But those who wish to boast
should boast in this alone:
that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord
who demonstrates unfailing love
and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth,
and that I delight in these things.
I, the Lord, have spoken! - Jeremiah 9:24 NLT
31 So then, as it is written, Let him who boasts and proudly rejoices and glories, boast and proudly rejoice and glory in the Lord. - 1Cor. 1:31 AMP
When you pause to pray today, think on something God has done in your life that you can use to brag on Him about. Have a blest day!
May 29, 2015
Good morning everyone,
I was saved in Lubbock, Tx back in December of 1982, at University Baptist Church. I'd been working Third Shift at the Texas Instruments plant out there, and we were so busy that you could have almost all the overtime you could stand. That weekend Stella went to visit her Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Rose several hours away in Clyde, near Abilene.
I decided we needed to get plugged in somewhere, make friends and get active in our new home. Since Stella was Baptist I chose the closest Baptist church to the house and went to check it out.
Long story short - I met The Lord in Lubbock that morning. But then when I went to work that night and shared what had happened to me, I was shocked and dismayed at some of the reactions. Most of the guys were like "That's cool, good for you". But there were two, well-meaning guys from different denominations who proceeded to tell me how I'd gone about it all wrong / Can't be saved until you've been dunked / It has to be done with THESE specific words or it won't stick, etc, etc.
I fully believe these guys meant the best for me, they obviously had strong beliefs and a heart for people, otherwise they'd have just blown it off - "The Baptists got another one", and gone about their business.
As I grew in Christ and began to learn more of God's character, what He loves, what He hates, how He has watched over the integrity of His word, and then experienced answers to prayer, I became convinced of what is called the Assurance of Salvation. Basically it's the understanding that once you've accepted Christ, fully given your heart to Him in faith (Belief so complete that it compels you to action), God transfers you from the Kingdom of Darkness to the Kingdom of Light! You no longer belong to satan, you've been bought, once and for all-time, by the Blood of the Lamb.
This doctrine says that nothing you can do - no sin, no running away like Jonah, NOTHING - can ever separate you from His love. You are secure in Christ.
Ephesians 1:13-14New King James Version (NKJV)
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
1 John 5:13New American Standard Bible (NASB)
This Is Written That You May Know
13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
If you're going through a rough spot in your walk of faith, remember the words of the Christian singer, Carman: "It may seem like Friday night, but Sunday's on the way!"
Study in the 10 Commandments - May 30, 2015 - June 7, 2015
May 30, 2015
Good Afternoon Dear ones:
I thought we might take a look at the basics.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Exodus 20:3
3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What things do you put before God? Are you so busy at work that God takes a second place? How about television or the computer? Do they replace your quiet time? I know there are times when I allow other things to interfere with my time with God. I am one of the first to say, that I need to be a better steward with my time and make God the priority in my life. I hope to improve on that in the future. He simply states that we should not have any other gods before Him. Let's all work on making Him the center of our lives this coming week.
Hugs,
SJ
May 31, 2015
Good Morning Dear Ones:
As we continue our study in Exodus Lets look at the second commandment:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Exodus 20:4-6
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many of us could say "I don't have anything like that", but do we?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the Matthew Henry Commentary it explains:
"The Jews (at least after the captivity) thought themselves forbidden by this commandment to make any image or picture whatsoever. Hence the very images which the Roman armies had in their ensigns are called an abomination to them (Mt. 24:15 ), especially when they were set up in the holy place. It is certain that it forbids making any image of God (for to whom can we liken him? Isa. 40:18, Isa. 40:15 ), or the image of any creature for a religious use. It is called the changing of the truth of God into a lie (Rom. 1:25 ), for an image is a teacher of lies; it insinuates to us that God has a body, whereas he is an infinite spirit, Hab. 2:18 . It also forbids us to make images of God in our fancies, as if he were a man as we are. Our religious worship must be governed by the power of faith, not by the power of imagination. They must not make such images or pictures as the heathen worshipped, lest they also should be tempted to worship them. Those who would be kept from sin must keep themselves from the occasions of it. [2.] They must not bow down to them occasionally, that is, show any sign of respect or honour to them, much less serve them constantly, by sacrifice or incense, or any other act of religious worship. When they paid their devotion to the true God, they must not have any image before them, for the directing, exciting, or assisting of their devotion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Time to do some heavy thinking on His day.
Have a blessed day,
SJ
June 1, 2015
Good Morning Dear ones:
I know Chris had covered some of this last week but let's look at the third commandment:
Exodus 20:7
7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold Him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
~~~~~~~~~
Have you ever had someone speak ill of you? Have you ever had some say something untrue about you? How did it make you feel? Did you feel like you were unjustly accused of something?
You guard your credit score here in the US like a hawk. You protect yourself against identity theft as much as possible. You make sure your witness is one you would be proud of. Why? So that no one uses your name. So that No one uses you. We are to do the same for God’s name. We are to make sure we keep it holy and guard it with steadfastness.
I personally feel that this not only His name but God Himself. Do we take God in vain? Do we take Him for granted? Let's make a conservative effort today to not only reverence God's name but Him as well.
Have an awesome day,
SJ

June 2, 2015

Good Morning Dear Ones:
At one time when things were tight, I worked 3 jobs it was crazy, burning the candle at both ends, and trying to light the middle. I was constantly in motion and not really accomplishing anything. After a period of time, I was so physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted, I ended being very very ill.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Exodus 20: 8-11
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
God wants us to rest. Our bodies need the time to recharge and heal its self from the day to day battles we do with the enemy. If we are not getting with God, recharging ourselves, we will find ourselves drained and spiritually exhausted. There is a season some of us have to do what we have to do to make it work in this world, but as soon as we can, we need to rest. For even God rested after His labors as an example to us all.
Hugs and recharge yourself,
SJ

June 3, 2015

Good Morning Dear ones:
Let's look at the fifth commandment. It is also the first commandment with a promise attached to it
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Exodus 20:12
12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
God gave us this commandment and kept reinforcing this throughout the Bible. For example:
Hebrews 12:9 Give them reverence -
Ephesians 6:1-3 which expounds the commandment
I hope you have an awesome day - Call your folks if they are still earth bound, otherwise live your life today that would honor them and God.
Hugs,
SJ

June 4, 2015

Good Morning Dear Ones:
We are looking at the 6th Commandment.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Exodus 20:13
Thou shall not kill
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Growing up memorizing Bible verses, I of course learned this in King James. However I think I want to take this back to the original Hebrews so I pulled out my commentary on the Torah by Richard Friedman:
"The Hebrew word used here is murder. Hebrew, like English, distinguishes between "murder" and "killing" "Murder" refers to the taking of human life with malicious intent. The cases of manslaughter, killing through negligence, killing in war, execution for crimes, killing animals, animals killing humans, and human sacrifice are all treated separately from this in the Torah and terms other than "murder" are used."
The difference is the intent. Those of my family who have worked with (or brushed against) the law know that there are different degrees in which you can prosecute a crime. All of which is based on your mind set. Here, God wants us to value human life. Life which He gave us.
Okay enough heavy reading for the day,
Go out and enjoy the gift of life.
A gift God gave each of us.
Hugs,
SJ

June 6, 2015

Good Morning dear ones,
Well this morning has started out interesting. As I reached for my copy of the Torah, I bumped my cup of coffee and spilled it on the table, chair, floor, me and the dog. Good news none of it went on the Torah.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Exodus 20:16
You shall not testify against your neighbor as a lying witness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This commandment forbids damaging the character of another person by making statements which are not true. It teaches respect for a person's reputation. As the news media goes crazy with 1/2 truths and partial lies, we need to make sure we don't repeat something that would damage someone's reputation.
It is so easy for us to hit the share button on social media or forward an email. We need to guard against accidentally breaking this commandment, which is so easy now a days with just a few clicks of a mouse or keystrokes.
Well I am off to make me another cup of coffee,
Have a good one everyone, hugs to you all

June 7, 2015

Happy Sonday dear ones:
This is the last stop of our travel through the 10 commandments. I hope that you have enjoyed this look at them. The 10th commandment was given to us for emotional support and a help.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Exodus 20:17
You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife or his servant or his maid or his ox or donkey or anything that your neighbor has.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This commandment was given to assist us not break the other commandments. It is saying: Do you want help to avoid breaking the other commandments? Then don't covet.
Have a blessed day everyone,
SJ

Sacrifice - May 24, 2015

Good Afternoon Dear ones:
As we take time this weekend to remember our fallen heroes, let us also remember another sacrifice made so that we might be free. I want us to take comfort. He sent the Holy Spirit so that we would not be without Him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Coming of the Holy Spirit
2 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jesus died to to free us from sin. Our soldiers have sacrificed to give us freedom. Let us not waste either gift given to us so selflessly.
Hugs and stay safe,
SJ

Memorial Day weekend - May 22, 2015

Good Morning dear ones:
As many of us start out on a long weekend, let us never forget the sacrifices made by so many that allows us this freedom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Galatians 5:13 (ESV)
13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hugs to you all,

Overslept - May 20, 2015

Good Morning dear ones,
We had quite a bit of weather blow through last night/this morning, so I am afraid I over slept. I wanted to leave you with a quick word. Love you guys.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Romans 15:5-6 (ESV)
5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, 6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Texas just a bit Crazy - May 19, 2015
Good Morning Dear ones:
I am afraid that Texas went a little crazy this past week. Between the tornados in Van and the shootout in Waco - my adopted home state is in need of this verse. Locally we lost a deputy yesterday to a tragic accident near Lake Texoma. Praying for peace this morning for so many hurting people.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
James 3:17-18 (ESV)
17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. 18 And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hoping we all have a peace filled day today,
Canned - May 18, 2015
Good Morning dear ones:
Yesterday the youth at church had a "You've been canned" scavenger hunt and they went from member's home to member's home collecting donations for the food pantry we have a the church. The catch was specific items got "points" though all donations were accepted. Aunt Stella here, went to the store with the point sheet and got one of everything. I am one of few members, that live the furtherest out from the church. They would really have to make an effort to come out and see me and I was going to make it worth their effort.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hebrews 6:10 (ESV)
10 For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for His name in serving the saints, as you still do.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am not sure what team won but I made sure that their efforts were rewarded. Yes they were getting points but they were also supplementing the food pantry. They were also learning that it is not always so easy to get food to eat.
Have a blessed day and know I love ya'll
Fearfully and wonderfully made - May 14, 2015
Good Morning dear ones:
In my office I have a gift made for me by a couple of my "borroweds" It was a finger painting with this verse. She used stickers to mask out the verse and let the boys go to town on the painting part. However 3 years in the sun has done its damage to it. "Aunt" Stella could not let it just go away so I started to fill in the letters with marker. It is a work in progress but I hope to have it mostly restored and back on my office wall soon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Psalm 139:13-14 (ESV)
13 For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You are made by the hand of God! Praise Him today and take joy that He loves us.
Hugs,
SJ
In the work place - May 12, 2015
Good Morning Dear ones:
I have been thinking of what Aunt Ruth had stated earlier and it has been with me for a while. On Sonday our guest Pastor reinforced her wisdom when he spoke also of being a Christian at where we work and just because we disagree with someone doesn't mean we need to just walk away. We may be the only witness he will ever know.
So, I thought I would glean some from Titus 2 this week.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Titus 2
7 Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, 8 and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.
9 Bondservants[b] are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, 10 not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
and even though it be hard to respect a supervisor or manager that may be over you, in this lesson we learn to be submissive so they may learn the doctrine of God. You may be the only Bible they see.
and finally to finish it out. . . .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
15 Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have an awesome day and know I prayed for a hedge of protection over all 76 of you today.
